States at work on building pharmacists’ authority to prescribe hormonal contraceptives

      Lincoln Alexander, PharmD, practices at a Safeway pharmacy in inner southeast Portland, OR. As the first pharmacist in Oregon to prescribe oral contraceptives after a statute, which was signed into law in July 2015, became effective in January 2016, he has prescribed oral contraceptives to patients of various ages and backgrounds.
